Today’s Heavy Thoughts on Being Naked & Unashamed
Today is 10/9/23, and it was early wee morning, 4:45 or around 5 am when i began to feel the heavy need to write this. Oh early wee morning….
I believe God allows us and wants us to fall apart at times to strengthen us, to grow and mature us in ways that only He can do. Though Abba Father takes no delight in seeing His children hurt and broken, at these times, He wants His children to come to know Him more and the way to do that is to strip us down back to nakedness.
What I mean by nakedness is right where it began. In the garden of Eden. Where both Adam and Eve were able to walk naked, unashamed, no fear, no knowledge of good and evil. Just delighting in the Lord and being in His presence and courtyard.
I think of this moment and can only imagine how wonderful and beautiful it was to be in the garden of Eden with Abba Father.
As Adam and Eve scroll around the garden, accompanying one another, they see nothing but one another as God created them. They don’t see mistakes. They see fullness. They don’t see a mess. They see good.
Then there it was.
The enemy who slithers his way in, twisting scripture up. Twisting God’s word to benefit his own self showing his true character such as conniving, deceiving, jealous and manipulating. The devil is a slimy slithering evil character, with no power, yet he will use the word of God to twist it for his own benefit.
It wasn’t just Eve who was deceived, it was Adam too. Adam was right there next to Eve. He could have easily stood up and stood for the Word of God, yet He didn’t. So many bible teachers teach it was Eve’s fault, yet, it was both Adam and Eve.
I think so often we come to God with a cover over our heads, with a blanket covering our sins, with a mask to cover our shame, knowing we cannot measure up to God and his holiness. His splendor majesty. It makes us feel as though we are not good enough to come to Him.
And that, we are not. It is why Jesus came to make a way for us knowing we could never measure up to God’s holiness. And the only way to come to Abba Father is through Jesus, the anointed spotless lamb. The sacrifice he made on the cross. To tear the veil and give us a way to come to Him. A way that only Jesus could make… and He did. Thank you Jesus!!
Some where along the lines though we have become afraid of God, seeing Him as the mean Father always carrying a rod ready to punish.
Somewhere along the lines though we have become too easily moved by His love in a way that gives us an excuse to sin and still say, “but i am covered.”
It isn’t to live in performance or perfection on our own. But we don’t realize that we need God in our day to day lives. In every moment of our lives. We don’t realize that God is both Wrathful and Graceful. Loving and Correcting. Just and Merciful. Judge and Faithful.
Adam and Eve could no longer stay in the holy dwelling as they had sinned. Where holiness is, sin cannot be.
A lot of the times people are afraid to come to God and be vulnerable. To be open. Sharing the deep ugly parts because we have been accused, rejected, lied to and betrayed before. We think God will be the same. Yet, He isn’t. He wants the real us. The true us. The honest us. Not the us that we portray ourselves on social media to be. Or the selves we pretend to be. But the real honest us. I mean He did create us and knows…
What if we could get back down to nakedness? No, not actual nakedness in the physical but actually taking off the veil, taking off the cloth, removing the blanket and mask, and beginning to build that trusting relationship with the Lord?
Imagine how it could be. Oh only if others could see… the beauty and awe it is to have a Heavenly Father who cares deeply enough to want to redeem every area of our lives and remove every sting and hurt within us.
If only we could view and see that stripping us down to our nakedness, may hurt, but is worth it. It’s worth every time we wake up just to meet Him. It’s worth every Word study we do because scripture gets imprinted upon our hearts. It’s worth it because our old ways began to shed off like a snake’s skin and a new skin begins to show… it begins to strengthen. It begins to no longer want the old but continues to want the new the Lord has for us.
The nakedness.. when we become naked and the old skin begins to shed off, it no longer fits us for the new we are becoming.
Being stripped to our bare nakedness is how it was meant to be. Since the beginning of time. We were born naked and we will leave this earth naked. Both spiritually and physically. Being naked is the beginning of a deep intimate relationship with the Father. It’s where it started and it’s where it will stay.
It’s where we shall be. Naked and Unashamed to be with the Lord. What a great delight it is ot be naked and unashamed in the Lord.
How can we come naked to the Lord?
- By calling upon Jesus and being honest with Him.
- Sharing our pain, our hurts, our sins and struggles.
- Knowing that God already knows.
- Being the real you. Not the you you want to be but the you you are NOW. And allowing the Holy Spirit to change you within.
