The Preparing of Perilous Times
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanders, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness by denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
2 Timothy 3:1-5
“Perilous Times.” That is the word I kept hearing from the Lord. Last year He spoke this word and it began to have me wonder, “what does that mean?” I never heard of this word nor seen it. I researched a little on what it meant but still didn’t quite understand.
“What you are about to see unfold has never been seen before. But fear not, for I am with you.”
I heard this whisper to my soul when I began to read more of perilous times.
My ESV mentions “dangerous” while my NKJV mentions “perilous.”
I then began to put the pieces together and realized He is telling me of what is to come. For two years He had been warning me of what is to come and what we will endure. It wasn’t to bring me fear, because it didn’t bring me fear. I didn’t feel fear at all but rather, I felt WARNED!
When God speaks, He speaks to warn His people of what is to come to prepare our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, spiritually, but also to prepare physically and mentally.
How do we prepare mentally for perilous times?
Well first we must understand what perilous even means.
Perilous, in Greek from Strong’s concordance, is the word chalepos, which is pronounced khal-ep-oss. It means: Harsh, savage, difficult, dangerous, painful, fierce, grievous, hard to deal with. The word describes a society that is barren of virtue but abounding with vices. Taken from NKJV bible and Strong’s concordance.
There will come a time, and it is promised in the Bible, where we will endure such hardships that seem unfathomable. But take heart sister, because there is even a greater promise and reward. An eternal glory that awaits for us who follow Christ and abide in Him in these times.
Back to the question. How do we prepare mentally for perilous times?
We must be anchored in truth! Not the world’s truth but Gods Word. Getting ourselves anchored in Him, abiding in Him in the secret hidden place, and setting our foundation upon Christ. Knowing what scripture says to place it deep within our hearts.
There is nothing in this world that can prepare us mentally like Christ can. There are no words of worldly affirmation or even “mental pauses” that can. Only the Truth of God’s Word that can pierce through these times.
How can we physically prepare?
Two years ago as I was reading the Word, the Lord began to show me how He helped prepare His people for famines, harsh times, etc. He spoke to them and told them each on what to do. Storing up food for when famine comes, helping the family when needed. And sometimes, a lot of the times, God would have them move to another place.
We must be in tune with the Lord, hearing how He wants each of us to prepare individually. He may tell you to can your goods while another family he may be saying to prepare by storing up first aid items. Maybe He is calling you to learn to garden, learn to sew your own clothes, dehydrate meats, save garden seeds, have chickens, plant a herb garden for medicinal use, store up essentials, etc. And when the time comes, he will bring you people where a trade is needed. This occurred all throughout the bible in the Old Testament.
Having wisdom is obeying to what the Lord is saying. Being wise is to heed instruction and be in tune with the Lord at all times. We must walk in wisdom of the Lord, taking heed of His instruction, and also ensuring our eyes are on Him and what HE is calling us to do as times to come will be perilous, hard, difficulty, challenging, to hard to bear.
Friend, I don’t want to “sweeten” it up or “butter” it up. I want to be straight up honest on what God has been telling me that is to come. Lay-off’s, civil unrest, a spirit of unrest & stress, economic fall, and very hard difficult times. He wasn’t telling me this to scare me as I mentioned, but to warn the body of Christ. Now it’s up to us, up to you, to choose whether you will take heed of what He is sharing with you in this time to come.
Perilous times will come, but there is hope. A hope we have in our Savior. And oh what a joy it is to live in such a time where Christ will soon return and we, his daughters of God, await His coming, to dwell eternally forever and ever with Christ and Abba Father.
Be in prayer dear friend and ask the Lord to give you more insight on this and what it means for you. Ask him to show you what He wants to tell you about this and what He would like for you to do in this time before we hit perilous times. As we can see, the world is not going back to “normal.” It will worsen, and has been worsening as labor pains, quicker and quicker. An agenda and scheme satan has, but what a great plan Abba Father has too! A great plan for His people and bride! We must be diligent in seeking Him, plating our roots deep within our Savior and becoming a well-watered garden who sprouts Christ in all her doing.
**This article is not to bring fear, for there is no fear given from the Lord (2 timothy 1:7), but to share with you on what He has been speaking to me. I don’t believe He wanted me to stay silent any longer but to share with those who truly want to hear as he adorns and prepares his bride for His coming.
