The Potter Is Molding
Isaiah 64:8 “Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” NIV.
There is something so profound from watching how the potters make their masterpieces. How each piece is formed and created. You begin to see the formation when the potter forms the clay into the pattern he or she wants it to be. As you watch the potter, you will also see her hands become messy, dirty, gentle with their touch, yet firm. Too much pressure can cause the clay to crush in while too much gentleness can have it fall apart not forming the clay how they intend it to be.
We seem to miss the beauty in pottery because all we see is the mess that surrounds the area, not really focusing in on the shape that forms with only a pair of hands.
Our Heavenly Father is our Potter and we are the clay. As he begins to form our lives, it gets messy, feels like it is falling apart and into pieces. But the beautiful thing in this is His pair of gentle yet firm, loving hands are on us. He reforms our life, even the messy parts of us, to become a better us, of who we are called to be. Shaping our lives to become more like Him.
Without a potter the clay will only be a blob of mess, with no hands shaping or molding the piece.
Our Father’s hands gently corrects our lives, molding and leading us where to go, much like the potter who corrects their clay, directing it to be formed in the pattern he/she wants it to be.
Our maker shapes us to become the willing vessels for the Kingdom.
His Word to us is our path to life. “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105, NIV. The more we read His Word and allow it to shape and mold us, accepting the corrections, the more we begin to see his hands all over our lives. Even in the moments we feel he isn’t, they most assuredly are. As He uses his hands to re-form our life showing us that He is Sovereign, we can thank him for making us in His image.
Sister, aren’t we so thankful to have a Father who is our potter, who shapes us to be more like Him rather than who we want to be?
Where do you feel him molding you in?
The more we read His Word and allow it to shape and mold us, accepting the corrections, the more we begin to see his hands all over our lives.
