Walking with Uncertainty

With everyone having to stay in home, indoors, and away from stores if possible, I know it can be hard to rest in this season of uncertainty.

Not knowing how to homeschool.
Not knowing how work looks.
Unable to have the house cleaned.
Laundry still piling unsure how to get it done.
Dishes needing to be washed.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner needing to be made.
A schedule that seems to be off schedule.
Everything on pause except the bills…

I get it. I understand. I see you. I feel your struggles.

I couldn’t help but go back to a time in the Bible when Joseph walked a life of uncertainty. When he was betrayed by his brothers and was sold. He was away from his family for many many years. He wasn’t sure what was ahead. But he continued to hold onto God’s promise, a dream He was given at seven years old!

See, we may be walking in this season of uncertainty not knowing what lies ahead, we may not know what our job holds, or whether the kids will go back to a school building or not, whether a church gathering will be held in a building again, we don’t know what tomorrow holds. But what we do know is the One who holds tomorrow.

Everyday we walk in uncertainty. Everyday things can change, but God never does!

Today, has enough trouble of its own (Matthew 6:34).

When Jospeh walked through His life, it was uncertain as well. He didn’t know he was going to be sold. He didn’t know he was going to be thrown into prison for false accusing. He didn’t know he was going to be forgotten by the cupbearer after begging him to remember him when he’s out of prison. In all of this you want to know something amazing? God neverforgot Him. God never left Him. God was right there with Him the same way He is with us in this pandemic. A pandemic that will soon end.

Joseph went through a long walk of uncertainty, of hardships. I mean who wouldn’t feel betrayed from your own brothers, then off to be sold, then being thrown in prison for something you didn’t do. While going through the hardships, God was working in Him. He was changing Him for the better. He was purifying Him. He was removing any impurities that was in Him.

Imagine this, and this is from my own perspective. Imagine if young Joseph went back to His brothers, imagine if he was able to escape and go back to his family. Do you think he would be upset with His brothers? Filled with unforgiveness and anger? Perhaps he wouldn’t have been who he had become later in adult life. See, in order for the dreams God gave Him that all his brothers would bow down to Him including his parents, God had to change Jospeh. And in order to be changed, purified, cleansed, made new, with all impurities gone, you have to go through fire. You have to go through hardships in life to be changed. It is in the hardships we become changed.

This season of uncertainty can be a life altering, life changing experience. But will it be to turn your face to the one who was and IS still faithful? Or will it be to turn back to the old ways never to be changed, to live much like before? Will it be to put other things above God or have God first and foremost in your life? It could be to experience a love with God that you’ve never encountered before when life was busy before the pause!

Joseph didn’t go back. He probably could’ve fled and ran back home. But he didn’t. He stayed faithful and putting His trust in the Lord to God’s promise, and we must do the same.

He has never failed us before and He won’t fail us now.

If you don’t have a detailed schedule that’s okay! Take a deep breath! Instead try rearranging the schedule to fit what works for everyone.
If you don’t know how or where to begin on this homeschooling, its okay! Take a deep breath! Try joining an online community of homeschool moms who get where you are at.
If you are overwhelmed and just not sure about any of this, its okay! Take a deep breath! Turn to prayer, and open the Word. Reach out to a trusted friend who can pray for you and help you.
Let’s lean onto the one who knows what tomorrow holds, let’s hang tight to His Word that never changes. Let’s rejoice in this season, giving thanks to Him, and praying without ceasing. Let’s be open willing to be changed for the better. Let’s be ready to receive what He has for us because I can assure you, He has something wonderful to say and show. https://c0.pubmine.com/sf/0.0.3/html/safeframe.htmlREPORT THIS AD

This uncertainty, this season, will soon pass, but while we are in the waiting, while we are in the stillness, let’s press into Him more and give Him all the glory. Let’s enjoy and embrace this season of rest and stillness.

Much like Joseph walking in an uncertain season, He continued being the salt and light. Be the salt and light in this season so we can encourage and help others too!

Though we don’t know what lies ahead, we know who goes before us. He hasn’t failed anyone and He won’t do that now!
