Walking In Uncertainty Can Be God’s Rescue Plan.

As I sit here at my breakfast table, I look outside to view the mountains only to see clouds in the sky. Birds softly flying about, birds chirping in the trees, worship music softly playing in the background, something about looking outside this window seeing the view just gives me this peace knowing He is with me.

The creator of all things, is here with me. In the midst of all what’s around me, He has neverleft, never changed, never looked the other way.

The same God that stayed with Daniel, who stayed with David, who stayed with Jospeh, who stayed with Paul, is the same one who is with us today.

For the past few weeks I have been reading the story of Joseph. I’m not sure if you know about Joseph, or if you’ve maybe heard about it as a kid, or maybe you’ve just come across it but never really let it sink in…

As I have been reading it, I had seen Joseph went through some serious hardships in life. And by serious I mean being sold at such a very young age by his brothers who despised him, who were jealous of him, and once he was sold he became a slave. There’s more that I can recap but first hear me out… He had some serious hardships. I mean wouldn’t you want to run back to your family? How would you feel towards God when all this was happening to you?

I can’t imagine going through that but in all of this, Joseph still stayed faithful and placing his trust in God. He trusted Him with his life. How many of us can say that right now as we deal with this pandemic, this COVID crisis around us?

All while going through that, Jospeh then was placed into Pharaoh’s palace, which later then was thrown into prison for being falsely accused. All because one woman who really wanted Joseph (even being married to Pharaoh), yet while Joseph quickly denied her she became angry and blamed him for something he really didn’t do. Now talk about hardship. Getting thrown into prison for something you ran away from… Goodness…. what is the Lord doing behind all of this??

I can tell you this, He was working in Joseph. God was shifting his heart, changing him, purifying him, refining him, to become the person God intended for him to be.

We may run away from hardships, walking this life thinking we won’t have trouble, but I can assure you that isn’t true. Jesus directly tells us we will have trouble in this world but to take heart because he has overcome it. (John 16:33)

I often wonder how many strive for a perfect life with no trouble. Who run away from trouble. Who hope and pray for trouble to be gone.

It was me. I was one of them. I hated trouble. I hated going through hardships in life and I would runaway, I would weep, I would be upset, I would ask God why He was doing this to me. Then it dawned on me. He was molding me. Shaping me. Purifying me. Refining me. I didn’t understand it then, but I understand it now.

Joseph walked in uncertainty everyday. As we do also. I am more than sure he didn’t see any of those hardships coming. I am more than sure he didn’t plan out “okay I’m going to be sold by my brothers, I am going to be thrown in prison for a woman who falsely accused me, I am going to be forgotten while in prison, I will never see my family again then I will be blessed abundantly and be placed in Pharaohs palace once again and be second in command….”
No! He had no clue. But what He did know was that during all of this, God was working through Him for his good. To be better changed. To be more like Christ. To have forgiveness towards his brothers when he sees them, to have compassion and kindness towards them and those who are hurting. To extend his hand to help those in need. To show the people who God really is.

Walking in uncertainty can be God’s rescue plan.

We may not see it now if we are too caught up with the world and its chaos.

Instead, we must see that God is working in us and through us. He is rescuing us from anything we have put above Him. It could be a season of learning to be grateful for the things we have now. Or to draw close to Him so He can teach us what He needs too. To give us wisdom, clarity, understanding and strength. To grow more in us than we have ever encountered before. To bring us back to Him if we allowed sin to wayward us off.

"Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands." Deuteronomy 8:2.

We must remember that He is good. His steadfast love endures forever. His mercies are new every morning and when we are given another day, we must turn to Him to allow Him to show us what He needs to. He is a God who revealsrestores, and redeems

Sin keeps us away from Him, and sometimes we don’t even recognize our own sin, but this is where he takes us to the uncertainty, the wilderness, to show us what is hindering, what is taking our time away from Him to rescue us.

Walking in uncertainty can be God’s rescue plan to redeem us. Save us. Reveal to us more of who He is.

When we walk through uncertainty, lets regain our focus on Him and not what’s going on around us.

Let’s be ready and open to receive what He has for us. Whatever it looks like, whatever it may be, be open ready to receive His goodness. His love that is abounding in love.

Reflection Questions:

  • What can you learn during this season?
  • Who do you want to become after this season passes?
  • How can you grow more into His Word?
  • In this season, what is He currently showing you?
  • Is there a sin(s) that you haven’t repented?
  • How do you react when times of trouble are present?
  • Looking back, How has God been faithful to you and brought you out of a season of trouble?
  • Sit, ponder, and pray over the above verses, ask the Lord to reveal to you what he needs, ask that He will show you any sin that you haven’t repented from, ask him to show you what He needs to and that your heart will be humbled ready to receive what He is about to say out of love for correction not condemnation.
  • Today, be a helping hand and extend your hand out to those who need you. Text, call, or FaceTime a friend and check on them during this time. Ask how you can pray for them.
" 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus." Acts 3:19-20
