Mama Is Feeling Burned Out

It is later in the afternoon and I headed outside in the dusty, gusty wind. I see the tractor behind our lot, plowing away his land, turning the dirt over creating a healthy rich soil.

I grab the water hose ready to begin my watering in plants. I normally water in the early mornings but today is Sunday, and I have had a morning of getting things done. But it was restful.

As I began watering my plants headed to my small garden… (I say small because now with all the yummy foods I once had is now gone, withered away from the heat, I now have jalapeño peppers and tomatoes left), I began to see a few leaves on my tomato plants looking dry.

Texas heat this year has been what they said, a hotter summer, higher temps than usual. My garden seems to think so. Seems I need to water everyday and not every other day.

But I took a look at this garden and it reminded me of how burnt out I had felt the past few weeks.

Burnt out on keeping up.

Burnt out on staying in the pace.

Burnt out in trying.

Burnt out in doing all the things.

Burnt out in carrying everyone’s attitudes.

Burnt out in everything.

It never occurred to me that I never laid every thing down when I would come to Jesus. It never occurred to me that I had it all on my shoulders when really I should have handed it over to Jesus.

Being a mom is the most wonderful thing. Yet draining. Today was the day it all somehow caught up to me and I began to feel the frustration of it all. Piling up like laundry and the dust piling up behind your TV that you never clean… oops did I just remind you? Sam there friend, I reminded myself.

The duties and the calling of cleaning, the ballet recitals, the dance practices, the packing lunches and prepping meal planning, just all the things. You see the things you fall behind on and the things you barely are caught up on.

What I love is the one person, who tells us to come to Him when we are weary and heavy burdened. Coming to Him with the burdens, the weight, the burnt out times, we release it in which we begin to receive His peace that surpasses all understanding.

This overwhelming peace the world does not offer. This overwhelming peace that rises up, that washes over the anxiety, the burnt out places, the weary-ness. The peace that our human minds search of in this world, yet it is in the Spirit that we receive it.

The different translations of Matthew 11:28 is:

NIV “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

NKJV “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

ESV “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

And my favorite…..

The Passion Translation “Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis.”

Can you just imagine friend, of sitting on the beach, sand between your toes, the salty fresh breeze hitting your cheeks, the sun radiating so brightly upon your skin, but wait…. the best is yet to come…. with Jesus right here with you, carrying you, sweeping you off your feet, speaking tenderly to you, holding you, and whispering His peace upon your life?

And if you are not a beach kind of person, imagine sitting in the cool place, a warm blanket placed around you, a hand made fire in front of you, mountains in view, but with the most favorite person you need…. Jesus. He is there, wrapping his arms around yours for warmth and comfort, He is listening to your cares as you cast them on him, you share your hurts, your burnt out places, you begin to cry and he begins to warm you up with his finger wiping your tear across your face. Imagine Jesus being right there next to you being the very person you need. He then whispers softly and gently, releasing His peace upon your life that overflows all the areas.

Imagine these scenarios dear sister.

Have you imagined it?

It is real.

Though we are not in these places at the beach, or up in the cold places, place your self in the place you are in now, and invite Him in. Because you know what?

He cares for us enough to bend down and hear us. To renew in us the places that seem burnt out. He is the very person, the very fulfilling thing we need in this life.

So I ask you, are you feeling worn out? Burnt out? Ready for some peace and comfort?

Sit with Jesus. He will be there with you releasing His peace and rest upon your life.
