A Dense View

A crisp and foggy morning blocked our view as we tried to look out our back window to find our beautiful hill scenery. But, it couldn’t be found. The fog hindered our view from seeing the beauty of a sunrise on our hill country side. The fog was dense and blindfolding. Thick, cloudy, yet somehow bright to see. We were on our way to Dallas that morning for a family getaway and as we were driving the fog seemed to get thicker and thicker by the minute. Only able to see one car ahead of us.

Have you driven in dense fog before? It seems so thick, so muggy, so cold too, hidden objects seem to pop up out of no where, only to see they didn’t suddenly appear, they’ve been there before the fog appeared.

This trip reminded me of how our vision, our view, can quickly become blocked if we aren’t careful at what we feed ourselves with. Meditate on. Where our eyes are laid upon.

The very Word tells us in Psalm 1:2, “but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. ESV. And in 1 Peter 5:8 it says, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” ESV.

If we are not watchful, careful for the enemy’s tactics, it will throw our view off. We can be so consumed by the “now” rather than focusing on the very Word that states the opposite. Our view becomes hindered, and we forget the One who holds our future, the very one who is already there awaiting for us to arrive.

The enemy gets a thrill out of catching people off guard. He knows if we aren’t fully submerging ourselves in the Word daily, we begin to submit to fear, worry arises when we face the unknown, we try to take control, even the uncertainties of the future cause us to fear worry and doubt. It all hinders our view and takes our eyes off the One True God who always keeps his promises. The one who is forever faithful.

We don’t need to be afraid when the enemy tries to throw his tactics. Read that again sister. We don’t need to be afraid when the enemy tries to throw his tactics. Why? Because we have these very weapons to put on and have him leaving trembling in fear. Ephesians 6:10-18 speaks about the Armor of God we are given.

The Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes ready for the Gospel of Peace, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, Sword of the Spirit, and Prayer!

We are given these very weapons for protection, so we don’t have to be walking in fear but always ready.

The dense fog that hinders our view from driving, we can have the same dense fog spiritually if we are not careful how we feed ears, our hearts, our minds and our soul. But if we keep guard applying our Armor of God on, we then can see beyond the fog.

Have you stopped to examine what you watch? Listen to? Speak? Maybe believe? There’s so much sister that isn’t being fully explained but needs to. There is a real enemy, BUT there is a real God too. Our God in whom we serve does not let us go into battle without our pieces of Armor. It’s just not who He is. He wants his very children to be protected, guarded, and armored up. He isn’t a Father who sends his children off to battle without the important pieces of protection. But it is up to us to choose to apply it daily. To wear it daily. To use it.

Sister, don’t let today’s reading just slip on and pass by. Take every piece that stands out to you and allow the Spirit of God to work in your life today, showing you the very pieces of Armor you’ve been given to stand against the enemy’s schemes.

Questions to Ponder
  • What is hindering your view?
  • What do you feed your soul?
  • Heart?
  • Mind?
  • Ears?
  • Is there something the Lord is asking you to lay down and let go of?

Mediate on scripture daily. Stay in the Word and place your Armor on sister! The enemy won’t stop working just because you are a child of God, if anything, he will work all the more trying to hinder your belief and view.
