A Season of Waiting….

Waiting can be difficult and painful in some areas. We all find ourselves waiting for something. Whether it may be sitting in a lobby waiting to receive some updates, or finding ourselves waiting for those two pink lines to appear, for some the job to call back, others waiting to know what is next.
We live in a fast-paced, needing it done now-kind of world. We no longer have to wait a full week, or possibly two, for mail to arrive because well…. prime is here. Our minds are constantly on the go go go, needing to do do do, must have more more more, in either our homes, our to-do lists, or elsewhere. Our minds and hearts are too full of clutter.
When God places us in the waiting, he isn’t punishing us, rather He is preparing us for what is to come.
Imagine if he were to show you how your whole month would look, or maybe the year. You may choose to not need Him because you know what is up ahead. But because we have a Father who loves relationship, He wants us to trust in Him in our waiting period. He wants us to trust him, even if we don’t get to see what is ahead, we know that his plans are always good.
As I began thinking about the waiting period, the Lord brought Sarai, who was renamed Sarah(Genesis 17:15), to mind. Sarah was 90 years old with no children. Talk about waiting. The Lord promised her a son, he spoke this to her husband Abraham, but as Sarah heard, she laughed. The Lord then says “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” Genesis 18:14a. Though it is seemingly impossible to bear a child at 90 years old, God made it possible. But, it was in the waiting, that God had to prepare them for what was to come. Abraham would soon find himself highly blessed with children as murmurs as the stars (Genesis 26:4).
Waiting doesn’t mean you are not being used by God, it means you are being developed into your God given purpose. It is in the preparation room where our hearts, minds, and souls begin to develop, He does his work in the unseen places. As a child of God, it is our responsibility to trust in the Lord and in our waiting, knowing He is faithful to fulfill his promises, Hebrews 10:23.
As a marathon runner prepares himself before the race, a weight lifter prepares her body before lifting heavy weights, a teacher prepares her work before teaching, God does the same with us, preparing us before the door begins to open.
Sister, aren’t we so blessed to have a father who doesn’t take us to a place unprepared but instead prepares us before we get there?
Let’s be the very women of faith who wholeheartedly trust the Lord in our waiting.
Women of Faith and Trust in The Lord Declaration
Today I choose to be a Woman of Faith who wholeheartedly trust in the Lord. I will choose daily to lean not onto my own understanding but in His. When he places me in the waiting, I choose to not walk or runaway but instead lean into His arms. As a woman of Faith, I will hold fast to His promises and truth rather than believing the lies the world says.
I, ___________(your name), am choosing to declare this faith and trust in my life today, In Jesus name, amen.
